Boonville - Hospitality Association
Welcome

About Us

Our Mission

As a Hospitality Association, our vision and hope for Boonville and the surrounding area is to become a tourist destination, with a 3 to 5 percent increase in tourism each year. The reason for our organization today is to provide an avenue for all businesses to work together as a whole and not to exclude anyone. Build the strongest allies of merchants and other's to promote tourism.

In order to achieve our vision for Boonville, we must always have inclusion not exclusion. We must have at least a six month to one year promotional plan in place, educational seminars, guest speakers, i.e. brain storming, to be directly involved with the state tourism commission.

Our Goal

Promote Tourism to Boonville and the surrounding areas by scheduling at least several 2 day events, with this in mind we are targeting hotels, motels, restaurants, retail shopping, golfing (all other outdoor activities), historical tours and local history.

History of Boonville

A river town of charm and beauty, Boonville owes much of its present wonderful historical qualities to the wisdom and creative planning of its founder. With over 450 sites on the National Registry, Boonville is always ready to share its wonderful heritage.

In 1810, Hannah Cole, a widow, and her nine children settled in Boonville. When Indians became hostile in 1812, Hannah and her family moved across the Missouri River. They returned in 1814 and built a cabin on the river bluffs.

After 1814, more settlers came and built in and around her fort. Boonville was laid out as a town in 1817. Its position on the Missouri River brought more people and developed river trade. It continues to prosper to this day. In 1861, the first Battle of Boonville was fought 1 mile east of the town. During the Civil War, Boonville, being so centrally located and on the Missouri River, made it a pawn of opposing forces.

Boonville today is known for its diversified culture, history, commerce, business and industry, education, home and tourism.

You can be our guest and enjoy many of the sites and history that Boonville has to offer. Boonville is a great place to visit!
